What is the Gulf Coast Classic?

More Than a Game. More Than a Weekend.

The Gulf Coast Classic is a cultural and athletic tradition that began in 1974, uniting fans and alumni of Southern University and Alabama State University in a spirited football rivalry.

But this is not the Gulf Coast Challenge—this is the return of the original Classic, reborn for a new generation.
