The J. McCall Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was established in memory of James "Jamie" McCall, a beloved former drum major at Alabama State University (ASU). Jamie's passion for music, leadership, and his community left an indelible mark on those who knew him. Tragically, we lost Jamie during the COVID-19 epidemic, but his legacy continues to inspire and uplift.
Our Mission
To honor Jamie's memory, the J. McCall Foundation provides a financial scholarship to each ASU drum major annually. Our mission is rooted deeply in HBCU culture, reflecting the values of excellence, leadership, and community service that Jamie exemplified. We are dedicated to supporting the next generation of leaders and artists within the HBCU community.
Our Roots in HBCU Culture
The foundation's roots are firmly planted in the rich and vibrant culture of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Jamie's time at ASU was marked by a commitment to excellence, camaraderie, and the celebration of African American heritage and achievements. Looking to expand our scholarships to auxiliary bands across all HBCU campuses, we continue to nurture the talents and ambitions of young leaders who will carry forward the spirit of HBCUs.
Corporate Partnership Opportunities
Partnering with the J. McCall Foundation offers corporations a unique opportunity to invest in the future of HBCU students and to support the cultural and educational heritage of these institutions. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we provide a transparent and impactful avenue for sponsorship at events like The Gulf Coast Classic, where your contributions will make a tangible difference.
